 Board & Train

2wks (including 3 transfer sessions) $1435 - $620 additional weeks

Specialized one on one attention. One dog in boarding at a time. Dogs must meet intake criteria before being accepted into a Board and Train service. Your dog will live with my family in my house. Minimum stay is 2 weeks.

Daphne takes in one board and train client at a time and your dog lives in our house as a member of our family. No dog runs or kennels on property.  Your dog will have access to a dog door and depending on the case, have access to play and mingle with Daphne's two dogs.  The first two days of your dog's stay is a "settling in" period to reduce any stress before the start of formal training.

Basic Information:

1. Dogs should be at least 14 weeks of age

2. Proof of vaccination including Bordetella

3. Dogs must be free of fleas

4. Your dog should be accustomed to living in a house

5. Female dogs in heat or about to go into heat will not be accepted

6. Visits can be arranged by appointment

Pre-Board Meeting and Team Transfer Sessions are mandatory.  The Pre-Board meeting is to gather information, evaluate your goals and needs, determine the best program for your dog and to evaluate your dog.   The team transfer sessions (3)  allows you the opportunity to review your dog's new skills and to work on your mechanical training skills and understanding of training concepts. These meetings ensure that you are a full participant in your dog's overall education. For maximum success, both you and your dog require education and we strongly support this view. Without your involvement, your dog's behavior will not be maintained and may revert back to original behaviors – hence spending money for nothing.

Owners are more then welcome to visit, as long as it is pre-arranged. Daphne sends you photos of your dog during their stay and provides a DVD of the training.

We do not offer just boarding or board and train services without dog and owner lessons.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS:

  • Admission to Board and Train requires veterinary proof of current and complete DHLPPC:  Distemper, Hepatitis or Adenovirus 2, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus, Corona virus, Rabies and Bordetella. Vaccinations must be administered no less than 7 days prior to boarding start date.  The one week buffer before arrival ensures full immunity and to lessen the possibility that your dog might be under stress from the vaccination.  If you prefer titer testing for immunity status, the test must be done no more than 7 days before your scheduled Board and Train commencement.

  • We also require veterinary proof of a parasite-free fecal completed within 10 days of your boarding start date.

  • You must have  a copy of your dog's (1) current vaccination record or titer values and (2) fecal test results obtained from your veterinarian -- these are required prior to commencement of training. Please have these documents ready and available at the Pre-Board Meeting.

  • Intact females in any stage of estrus will not be accepted. Intact males may be accepted depending on Daphne's intact female's season.   Please check your dog's estrus calendar and schedule your training accordingly.

  • If your dog has a health condition requiring treatment or medication, please provide detailed information on your Board and Train Contract and  Agreement  form so that we may advise you of our ability to accommodate your dog's condition. Absent prior notice, we will not accept any dog demonstrating a physical or psychological condition that in our opinion may impact our ability to safely and humanely board and train your dog on our premises.

  • Please ensure that your dog is clean and fully groomed, including coat, nails, and ears at time of drop-off. Dirty, matted, or otherwise ungroomed dogs will not be accepted into our Board and Train service.

  • Dogs displaying  aggression toward any person may not be accepted into our service. Each individual case will be assessed and evaluated at the Pre-Board meeting. Dogs may require basket muzzles and/or medication.

CRATE TRAINED AND BEING LEFT ALONE:

This is not a mandatory requirement BUT it would be highly beneficial for us if your dog is crate-trained, meaning being able to go into the crate without any hesitation, without  avoidance/escape or fear responses to the crate.  Your dog should be able to comfortably and calmly stay in the crate for at least 8 hours during the night. We have a medium Vari-Kennel that we can use or you can bring their own crate for added comfort.  Your dog should be able to stand, turn around and lay down comfortably in the crate.  Wire crates are not acceptable, as they do not meet our safety and security requirements. Any damages to our supplied Vari-Kennel will be your responsibility and a reimbursement will be required.

  • Your dog should be comfortable and calm when left alone in a secured room or in a crate for any duration between 2-4 hours at a time. Dogs that are destructive or panic when left can be accepted into our service but at double the training fee. Excessive barking (depending on the motivation) may require the use of a citronella bark collar. We have the right to refuse a dog with behaviors that put your dog at risk of injury or our house and property at risk of being damaged.

  • A pre-agreed alternative boarding solution (s)  is mandatory in case your dog is unable to stay with us due to safety issues, panic/distress issues or the safety of our property.

If you are located out of state, you will need to make arrangements to come with your dog to the required Pre-Board Meeting prior to a first-time Board and Train, and also to pick up your dog following Board and Train and be available for the Team Training meeting.

  • You  are expected to read all reading materials supplied to you so that you will be up to speed on the fundamental training techniques and management strategies use in my training approach.  You will also need to have acquired any related training equipment, such as appropriate leash, collar, or crate, as recommended by me. This ensures that we have the easiest transition between my training here and yours at home.
